Philippians 4:1-5
Paul continues from Philippians 3:20,21 and urges the believers to stand firm. The way to stand firm is to fix our eyes on Jesus.
We must remember this world is not our home and to focus on the belief and understanding that our citizenship is in heaven, we must walk in such a manner.
Standing firm means to resist all the negative influence, temptations false teaching, allegations that the devil brings to us.
We must persevere when challenged, never to lose heart. God has promised to strengthen us.
The greatest threat to any church is not doctrinal heresy but a lack of spiritual unity. The Devil’s plan is always to divide and conquer.
We must work in unity. It does not come naturally. The lack of unity in the Church of Philippi was hindering the effectiveness of the local church.
It is very much possible that you are fervent for the lord, working hard for his kingdom, yet face the issues of broken relationships.
There is no excuse it must remain unreconciled. We cannot say there is nothing in common. We always have Christ in common and therefore agree in the lord, find common ground.
To agree it is necessary to find that place where you can begin to rejoice in what is taking place.
Rejoice in the Lord, and again I say Rejoice. this is the mark of spiritual maturity.
What Paul said to the Thessalonians is essentially what he said to the Philippians: “Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus” (I Thess. 5:16-18).
We must give ourselves away to other people. One cannot live a selfless life and be selfish at the same time.
At the core of all worry is selfishness.
The consciousness of the nearness of Jesus Christ is a big incentive not to worry. we must not let anything or anyone rob us of our joy in Christ. Rejoice.
Ask Yourself:
Do you need to reconcile with someone today?
Are you being robbed of Joy?
Is your life Selfless?
Let us pray:
Heavenly Father, help us to rejoice in all circumstances. Not to worry, but to know that you are dwelling within us, you are near to us. Help us to forgive, reconcile and live in unity to be effective in all walks of life. In Jesus Name. Amen.
Blessings & Prayers
