The Burning Bush
[ Finding God in Wilderness ]
Ex 3:14
Everyone may desire want or may even need desperately the burning bush moment.
To meet God in His glory, to see Him and cherish all His splendour in his beauty and revel in His presence.
Moses was one of the few Hebrew babies from his generation who lived. God has chosen him right from his birth, set him apart for His purposes and a future that Moses will fulfil.
Moses’ parents were willing to give him up and trust God for protection.
Despite Pharoah’s decree, Pharoah’s daughter could defy the ruling to still adopt the condemned Hebrew child and bring him up in the same household. This is God`s Way of doing things.
At times we may be asked to leave our comfort zones and moved to a difficult situation so that God`s hand of mercy may enter that situation.
Moses was brought up in a palatial environment. But nevertheless, he never forgot that he was not an Egyptian.
After Moses had grown up, he went out to where his own people were and watched them at their hard labour. He saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his own people.
When Moses stood up for the fallen Hebrew, he was exercising the inborne spirit within him that had been urging him all along that he was different, he was sent for a purpose.
We too have been placed in our family settings, our background, our education achieved, the current workplaces or physical circumstances, we are placed in for a reason.
But at the appointed time, God will use us and ignite the fire in us for greater things. To stand against injustice.
Moses committed a crime. When he killed the Egyptian, he ran away from Egypt to Midian his roots.
There he escaped to met his old family and relatives, and endured a period of waiting, pruning while tending the sheep.
Then on a non-suspecting day, God said it was time and revealed himself to Moses. None would be more amazing than to see a green bush burning. Its incomparable even to the wonders, treasures, and luxuries he may have seen in Egypt.
The encounter with God at the burning bush transformed him. Similarly, when we encounter God, we transform. The very core of our being becomes a fireball.
From a princely life to a murderer on the run, to a Godfather who will lead multitudes from their slavery, through sheer dependence on God and to carry his glory wherever they went. He became their Savour and the deliverer.
Christ became a saviour of all through submission to God the father and His will for us to be saved by His giving of His life for us through submission and dependence on God.
Moses received the 10 commandments from God Yahweh directly and gave to the people for follow.
Jesus gave the Great Commandment.
Moses would raise the bronze snake on a pole when the Israelites were bitten so that all who looked upon the staff would be healed.
God would raise Jesus on the cross so that all who looked upon Him would be saved for eternity.
We read in the Acts 2:1-4 that tongues of fire rested on the heads of disciples who were gathered in the upper chamber
when God’s presence is upon us, we burn for Him with zealous to spread the Word, fire to do His works.
Let us pray
Dear Lord, help us to have the life-changing encounter with you that will help us burn. In Jesus Name. Amen
